Wage War – Stitch

Nog een voor mij redelijk onbekende band in het genre van de metal(core) met een pósitieve boodschap: Wage War. In 2015 kwam Blueprints uit dat weinig aandacht van me kreeg. Weinig metalcore bands weten boven het maaiveld uit te steken met harde én originele muziek. Maar toen onlangs het tweede album, Deadweight, uitkwam was ik aangenaam verrast. Zware metalcore afgewisseld met catchy tunes en afwisselend gitaarwerk. Het album draagt terecht de titel van het nummer. Maar er staat meer moois op, zoals Stitch. Over verbroken relaties die maar moeilijk weer te lijmen zijn. Dit album heeft een tijdje op repeat gestaan. “Take what you can get. But I’ll bet that’s never enough. Is it?” En die eerste gitaarriff: Linkin Park, anyone?
