Deathbreaker – The Sinking

De m’n laatste blog – die volgende week een vervolg krijgt – noemde ik al kort de band Deathbreaker. Als nieuwe toevoeging bij het label Facedown Records wisten ze m’n aandacht direct te pakken. Meer dan de jongste telg in de Solid State familie (Earth Groans). Vooral het tweede deel van het album Disconnect pakt door teksten én muziek; de nummers The Sinking, Eclipse en Absence beklijven. Favoriet is Eclipse, maar omdat daar geen video van was vandaag als goede tweede: The Sinking: “…the comforts in my compromises hold me back from all I should let go.”

One by one the bodies reach the surface, we abandoned the course and changed our purpose to nothing, we drown in shallow water, set our sails a course we thought we needed, we believed in the lies that we created we’re shipwrecked. Lost at sea we’re doomed from the beginning, and at the end of the day we’re still drowning inside.

Truth is in the eye of the beholder but my eyes are growing older and to see the truth inside my lies, I don’t want to play this game anymore. It’s my lies are tallest but it’s so hard to become honest when I blamed you for the wreckage that I had left and said this was your fault. So I will keep what I created and I will love what should be hated and the comforts in my compromises hold me back from all I should let go. I said I’d always see you through this but then I sold you out like Judas and now I’m left to walk alone and this was all my fault.
