The Violet Burning
Er zijn bands die al héél lang muziek maken. The Violet Burning is zo’n band. Met een groot repertoire kan het niet altijd raak zijn, maar ik betrap mezelf erop dat ik regelmatig de sferische (rock)muziek van ze opzoek. Liefst met grunge gitaarklanken. Hun eerdere albums zouden zo gedraaid kunnen worden op (de uitstekende internetradio zender) Alt Vault. Vandaag twee nummers van het ‘self-titled’ album uit (jawel) 1996.

Waar te beginnen in de ruime selectie aan albums? Check dit artikel om je op weg te helpen. Ik kies zelf veel uit relatief oude albums (de eerste zes) óf The Story of Our Lives (vooral 2011) reeks. Een goed vertrekpunt is het album ‘Demonstrates Plastic and Elastic’. Ik kan zelfs het meer ‘worshippy’ album ‘Faith and Devotions of a Satellite Heart’ (bedankt ma) goed hebben. Graag zelfs. Enfin, er is meer dan genoeg om uit te kiezen.
