Zo'n vier jaar geleden kwam Architects al eens voorbij vlak nadat ik tijdens het wandelen 'blown away' was door het ingetogen nummer Dying Is Absolutely Safe. Het album dat (zeer snel!) daarop volgde was ronduit teleurstellend: veel te ingetogen. Gelukkig is de pit terug!

Lekker zwaar op de hand
In lijn met een band als Currents is de thematiek van Architects (vaak aangenaam) zwaar op de hand én melodieus. En dus regelmatig lekker hard: zowel qua zang als qua gitaarwerk. De mix die ze wisten te vinden voor 'The Sky, The Earth & All Between' sprake me direct aan. Een album in mijn straatje en kanshebber voor de eindejaarslijst. En wees gerust: ook voor de minder doorgewinterde metal luisteraar is dit album best te pruimen. Architects is vooral melodieus en daarna pas hard, i.p.v. andersom. Ze live zien zal wel niet snel gebeuren: ze zijn inmiddels te groot om op te treden op de locaties waar ik graag kom (lees: maximaal 013, Tilburg qua grootte).
