De één houdt van metal(core), de ander van hip-hop. In de muziek van Fallstar lopen beide genres in elkaar over, al blijft metalcore dominant. Zes jaar moest ik wachten op nieuw werk en het album Sunbreather stelt niet teleur. Ook qua teksten blijft het interessant; iets dat je niet kan zeggen van hip-hop nu-metal band P.O.D. Vandaag: When Justice Cracks the Sky.

Metalcore hip-hop
Fallstar is een vreemde eend in de (metalcore) bijt. Het is hard, maar regelmatig ook catchy én combineert met hip-hop. Dat lijdt wat mij betreft niet altijd tot succes, maar hun optreden jaren geleden op Christmas Rock Night (2015) is me goed bij gebleven. Wát een energie. Ze hadden toen net het album 'Future Golden Age' uitgebracht. Zes jaar later is daar nu Sunbreather. Het niveau van de eerste helft is fenomenaal, maar toegeven: daarna zakt het wat in. Dan nog steeds is het prettige muziek, maar ik veerde er niet van op zoals bij When Justice Cracks the Sky of King Lazer.
